Itinerary
DAY 1: RAINBOW MOUNTAIN (Vinicunca)
The day starts very early (04:00 a.m.) with the pickup at your hotel in Cusco. Then, we will travel approximately 3 hours by car towards the south to the district of Cusipata – Paucarpata in Quispicanchi, where we will enjoy an energetic breakfast before starting the adventure.
We will continue with a short transfer to the controls of the communities of Tintinco and Paucarpata, where the registration of visitors is carried out. From there, we will arrive at the starting point in Chillihuani, where our hike will begin through Andean plains surrounded by mountains, observing alpacas, llamas, guanacos, and native birds.
Upon reaching the Vinicunca viewpoint, our guide will explain the geology, colors, and ecosystem of the place. The Rainbow Mountain dazzles with red, purple, green, pink, and yellow tones, contrasting with the majesty of Nevado Ausangate (6,385 m / 20,948 ft), the fifth highest mountain in Peru. Here we can take photos and enjoy the unique landscape.
At the end of the hike, we will return to the starting point, board the transport, and head to the community of Pacchanta (arrival approx. 8:00 p.m.). During the journey, lunch will be served, and upon arrival, you can relax in the hot springs. We will spend the night in rustic cabins adapted by the community.
DAY 2: PACCHANTA – 7 LAGOONS OF AUSANGATE
We start the day with breakfast in Pacchanta, where we will meet the local people and their traditional activities, such as raising alpacas, llamas, and guanacos, in addition to the conservation of hot springs.
The hike starts at 9:00 a.m., equipped with walking sticks and a small backpack. We will cross streams, Andean trails, and flat areas, with views of Nevado Ausangate and Callangate.
After exploring the lagoons, we will descend to the community of Pacchanta to enjoy a local lunch. Finally, we will return to Cusco, arriving at your hotel at approximately 6:00 p.m., concluding the experience.
