What is the South Valley of Cusco? South of the city of Cusco is the place known as the South Valley. It is an important place for the development of the Inca empire. It is the perfect tour for people looking to experience archaeological sites and magnificent landscapes.

You will know the following destinations in a single day:

Itinerary

South valley is located in a south section of the Cusco city. We start our tour in "Tipón", very well preserved archaeological site, in the place there are 12 terraces still cultivated, some enclosures and an irrigation system considered a masterpiece of hydraulic engineering currently used by the local population. Next, we go to Andahuaylillas, a town located 40 kilometers from Cusco, whose main attraction is it’s Church, called "The Sistine Chapel of America", because its high quality of the pieces of art found in it. The structure was built in the 16th century.

Finally we go to Pikillaqta, considered one of the best preserved pre-Inca cities in Peru that corresponds to the Wari culture, ancestor of the Incas. The place has a network of streets and walls of more than 4 meters that served as a defense system, in fact the entire Wari city was fortified.

We can also find squares, temples and viewpoints with spectacular views. Next to the place we will have our lunch with a privileged view of the Huacarpay lagoon.
